THE HACKATHON
Pandemic crises, global warming, scarcity of raw resources and social responsibility are urgent issues, that are changing the way people think, and how they consume and engage with products. Consumers want to be more aware of how their patterns of consumption might make a difference, and they are demanding - transparent and sustainable - products from producers.
The main purpose of this hackathon is to develop customer-centric solutions for more mindful and radically honest products, with the help of AI and data sources.
This is why GS1 in Europe and GS1 Germany partnered up with atrify, Google Cloud, Auto-ID Labs, worldwatchers, EVRYTHNG and Berief Food to host its first Hackathon together! GS1 is a Not-for-Profit standards organization, most well-known for its best seller: “The Barcode”. With it, digitalizing product information became fairly easy, and standardizing product-related information became their daily business. All that information is located and managed the atrify platform. This is one of the best product databases worldwide, with high-quality data; powered by Google Cloud.
We are curious to see what you can do with this data, and what creative and innovative solutions you can come up with. Are you up for the challenge?
Challenge Categories
The Hackathon will focus on three main topics:
- Sustainability
- Nutrition
- Personalization/Individualization
And the proposed solutions should focus on the use of the following technologies:
- Computer Vision/AR/VR
- Text Mining
- Atrify Product Data API
Atrify, Auto-ID Labs and Google Cloud will provide access to data, and support you during the hackathon.
Streams
Prototyping Stream
In the Prototyping stream, you will develop a real AI-powered solution. The result could be for example: an App, a Website, a Jupyter Notebook, an API.
Concept Stream
In the Concept Stream, each group delivers a finished concept. The result can be the development of an idea or the implementation concept of an idea.
Organization Stream
GS1 employees who do not want to participate in the hackathon but want to support the event, can join this stream. You should write this in the registration.
